A small engineering firm recently had six personal computers stolen. Fortunately the server disk drive (external to the server) containing all of the company’s information was not stolen. There was no forced entry so it was assumed that the door was left unlocked by the cleaning company, although this could not be proven. The company did not have an alarm system. The company was down for four weeks while the new PCs were on-order, costing them more than the PCs were worth! 

A 17 zone wireless alarm system was installed as an intrusion alarm. Since the customer was concerned about coverage should someone forget to arm the system, Asset Protection Devices were installed on all six new PCs. The Asset Protection Devices are configured as 24 hour, audible, supervised zones. Warning labels were also put on each system. The system is monitored by the dealer’s central station. 

The company's insurance was reduced by 15% due to the alarm system and extra Asset Protection coverage. The insurance company recently called the alarm company with a reference for another engineering firm having similar theft problems.

Asset Protection Devices are taken off-line for asset servicing purposes using the security system's main keypad.

As of this publication date no theft or vandalism has occurred on assets protected by Asset Protection Devices.
