The need for the lab to secure these valuable assets was due to the openness of the environment and thefts that were occurring within the multiple dwelling commercial building.  The owners were concerned about the openness of the environment and the ease at which people could enter the building - especially after hours.  

A simple wireless control panel was installed separately from the office alarm system.  The owner wanted redundancy in the security systems.  The APDs are configured as 24 hour zones and sound an ear-piercing siren within the building should the assets be moved or the APDs sensors cut or removed.

The security system also reports to a central station.  The next phase of the project involves installing web cameras to actually record and monitor any event that should occur.  Activation of a Asset Protection Device will trigger full-motion recording and the cameras can be accessed remotely to check on the status of the facility.

Asset Protection Devices are taken off-line for asset servicing purposes using the security system's main keypad.

As of this publication date no theft or vandalism has occurred on assets protected by Asset Protection Devices.
